The box actually arrived a few days ago … they aren’t running late, I am!  I know that every month I write out my gushing praise of this company, but, trust me, the gushing praise is well deserved.  I love Knoshy!

This month’s box was crafted with health in mind – starting the new year off right with healthy snacks!

This month’s box included:  Apple-2-the-core dried apple snacks from Peeled Snacks, an 11 ounce container of Zico Coconut Water, TWO energy bars from Off The Farm (I love Off The Farm bars!), a package of Vampire Killer Kale Chips from Brad’s Raw Foods, a pouch of granola from Purely Elizabeth, and a chocolate bar from Theo Chocolate.  (YES!  Chocolate!)

It would seem that “healthy snacks” seems to be a similar theme with my two boxes that I received this month, but, that’s OK.  However, I would have probably been more thrilled with a tea time box (January IS hot tea month, you know!)  Then again … I’d be thrilled with a tea time box any time.  Ha!

I can’t wait to start knoshing on these boxes!

Where to Buy:  Peeled Snacks on Foodzie

Product Description:

10 single serving snacks (1.48 oz.) Are you pining for the exotic taste of the tropics? Peeled Snacks brings the tropical flavors of Central America straight to you in a healthy treat you can take with you anywhere! Take a bite out of our juicy pineapple rings loaded with vitamin C, vitamin B1 and Manganese — and no added sugar! Enjoy the guiltless pleasure of this satisfying snack. Pineapple also helps digestion.

What I Think:

These are much different than I was expecting.  Having tasted dried pineapple before, I expected the sugary sweet, almost-confection-like taste that I experienced then.  But while this has a natural sweetness to it, it isn’t a overwhelmingly sweet candy-like snack.  That’s because these snacks contain only one ingredient:  organic pineapple.  No sugar or preservatives or anything else.

The drying process that this pineapple has undergone seems to emphasize not only the sweetness of a pineapple but also the tartness of it.  These bites of pineapple have the concentrated, pure flavor of the fruit – sweet yet tart – and a very satisfying chewy texture.

And I think that it is the texture that I am enjoying most about these snacks.  It is almost like a piece of chewy candy, but without the sticky, sugary feeling that is left on the teeth.

These snacks are rather irresistible.  When I first opened the pouch and nibbled on my first piece, I thought I would be able to put the rest away for another time… but then one piece became two, and then I tried yet another… and before I knew it, the package was empty!

My Final Thoughts:

These snacks have really changed my thoughts on dried fruit.  The flavor is intense and it is naturally sweet without added sugars or other ingredients.  These snacks are deliciously energizing!

Just like the months previous since I’ve started subscribing to the Foodzie tasting box, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my box and even feeling a little jealous reading on Foodzie’s Facebook page that others had received and begun enjoying this month’s offerings.  I kept telling myself that my patience would be rewarded – and I was absolutely correct on that account.  What a delicious bounty of samples!

This month’s box contained:  Pine-4-Pineapple Fruit Snacks from Peeled Snacks, Roasted Seaweed Snack from SeaSnax, Traditional Alfajores from Sabores del Sur (La Cocina), Two different flavors of Biscotti from Biscotti Bari, Two different flavors of Herb Sea Salts from Woody’s Gourmet, and Pure Southern Iced Tea Bag from Pluff Iced Tea.

Also included in my box was a recipe card for the Sea Salt blends as well as the Map Card.  The map card gives a brief description of each item and shows from which part of the country each item came.  Here’s scans of both sides of the card:

I am so excited to try these items.  I must admit that I’ve previously tried (and reviewed) the Pluff Iced Tea, but all of the other goodies are new to me.  I will be writing a separate review for each item as I taste them, except for the Pluff Iced Tea, since I already wrote one for it.
